Mit rund 580.000 Einwohnern ist Dortmund die dritt-größte Stadt in Nordrhein-Westfalen und ist das Beispiel für einen gelungenen Strukturwandel. Ehemals Inbegrif für Kohle, Stahl und Bier ist Dortmund nun als dyna-mischer Versicherungs- und Technologiestandort über die Grenzen hinaus bekannt. With a population of around 580,000, Dortmund is the third largest city in North Rhine-Westphalia and an example of a successful structural change. Formerly a synonym for coal, steel and beer, Dortmund is now well-known beyond its boundaries as a dynamic insurance and technology location. This is also apparent in the supra-regional catchment area that reaches far into the Sauerland and the surrounding Westphalian outer conurbation area.
